Memories of Canada

Back in 2003, I had cause making numerous check outs to Canada, generally to the eastern side, consisting of Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec. Because the check outs, I have a desire to make the cross the Atlantic and begin a new life there.

As a boy, my memories of maturing in the UK are of hot summers and cold winter seasons. Something that seems to have actually altered beyond all recognition now. Possibly it is a distorted memory, or at least the memory of a youngster, but the thought of returning to periods that you have been brought up with, appears really enticing.

Although the winters I remember as a kid seemed cold, they are absolutely nothing compared to the winter seasons experienced by the Canadians. The times I spent in Canada were primarily throughout the winter season and it was unbelievably cold. Residing in the UK, specifically England, brings the usual issue each and every year. One cold snap and the whole country grinds to a stop. Although the conditions in Canada appear unwelcoming compared to that of the UK, they appear to cope far better than we do. In stark contrast to the winter season, the summers in Canada appear really hot. Perhaps there is no middle ground. Just winter and summer season? That is exactly what attract me most about Canada. Well, that, individuals and the capability to breathe. I am not talking about breathing in a literal manner, more a manner of area to breathe. The UK is not one of the greatest places on Earth and area is becoming more and more restricted. Take London for instance. There is less and less area to live and individuals are stuffed into flats and apartments the size of shoe boxes, just for the luxury of living in London. Sure, London is a fantastic city, but the idea of having the space to breathe appears genuinely enticing.

This year I hope to get back to Canada and experience the openness of the nation and of individuals there. In all the sees I made there, I discovered the Canadians to be enjoyable and extremely polite. That is such a great thing to experience in today's "no time at all for anybody" society we reside in. Something that sticks in my mind about the Canadians, is the reality they are so proud to be Canadian. In my opinion it is warranted and I cannot wait to make the hop across the Atlantic and experience some more of that Canadian hospitality.
